We are products of a system designed and are continually participating or observing systems affecting our everyday lives. As a designer, I know how impactful systems can be and the longer one is in place the more permeances its effects can take hold.
There's are a lot of systems out there that need re-designing, and I think in these explosive times the importance of fighting for the right systems is critical.
There are dark patterns in systems that need to be removed that we have become accustomed to. There are new experiences that are yet to be explored due to the limits of certain systems and the neglect of the attention needed.
We all have a part to make sure the right components of each system are serving the right purposes and affecting people in uplifting and humanistic ways. I’m trying to understand how I can do this better; it’s challenging and there’s a lot to process, but I need to pay more attention to these things.
I don’t really have many answers of how these systems can be re-designed, but the most important part I’ve discovered is noticing them. They can be easy to miss if you haven’t been awakened to the systems designed throughout history, but they’re there and they need to be improved.
